Introduction

1. Correspondence tables (concordances) present the conceptual relationship between occupations in the ANZSCO 2021 Australian Update and other classifications. The other classifications are the previous version of ANZSCO (Version 1.3) and the international reference classification (ISCO-08).

Interpreting Correspondence Tables

2. In each table, the letter ‘p’ in the fourth column indicates a partial match from the second classification to the first classification. For example:

ANZSCO 2021 Australian Update                ISCO-08
121111      Aquaculture Farmer                   1312            Aquaculture and fisheries production managers
                                                                     6221  p        Aquaculture workers
xxxxxx      No Correspondence                   6340            Subsistence fishers, hunters, trappers and gatherers

3. The relationship between ANZSCO and ISCO-08 (illustrated in the correspondence table above) indicates that the ANZSCO occupation 121111 Aquaculture Farmer comprises all of the jobs classified in ISCO-08 unit group 1312 Aquaculture and fisheries production managers and some of the jobs classified in ISCO-08 unit group 6221 Aquaculture workers. The correspondence table also indicates all jobs in ISCO-08 unit group 6340 Subsistence fishers, hunters, trappers and gatherers are not part of ANZSCO (ANZSCO’s scope relates to jobs in the Australian and New Zealand labour markets undertaken for pay or profit).

4. These correspondences do not identify the proportion of an ISCO-08 unit group that falls into a relevant ANZSCO occupation and vice versa.

5. The same principles apply to the correspondence to ANZSCO version 1.3. For example:

ANZSCO 2021 Australian Update                ANZSCO version 1.3
121399      Livestock Farmers nec              121317  p    Mixed Livestock Farmer
                                                                     121399        Livestock Farmers nec

6. The relationship between ANZSCO 2021 Australian Update and ANZSCO version 1.3 (illustrated in the correspondence table above) indicates that the ANZSCO 2021 Australian Update occupation 121399 Livestock Farmers nec comprises some of the jobs classified in ANZSCO version 1.3 occupation 121317 Mixed Livestock Farmer and all of the jobs classified in ANZSCO version 1.3 occupation Livestock Farmers nec.
Interpreting Correspondence Tables

In the table, the letter ‘p’ in the fourth column indicates a partial match from the second classification to the first classification.
