Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the professional body of the I.T Professional Year Program, which aim to give international ICT graduates from Australian University the practical job skills and training needed to enhance their career prospects, a practical pathway from university to employment in Australia. The Professional Year is a 44 to 52-week program, which includes a 32-week theoretical knowledge and communication skills training and a 12-week full-time internship opportunity for graduate to gain a real work experience with an Australian employer.
The Professional Year Program aims to increase the employability skills of international graduates to address Australia’s skills shortages in nominated ICT occupations. The Australian job market is extremely competitive, but the I.T Professional Year Program can help you stand out by:
- enhancing your understanding of the Australian workforce
- providing an industry-relevant internship placement
- building your professional network for future employment.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants may be awarded five (5) points toward skilled migration under an eligible skilled occupation.
Some of the skills and knowledge you will gain in the 32-week coursework:
- Resume and cover letter writing
- Personal branding and building an effective LinkedIn profile
- Interview techniques and skills
- Knowledge of Australian business culture
- Project management skills
- Leadership skills
- Communication skills
- Teamwork skills
Once you successfully complete the coursework component, you will have the opportunity to apply these skills in the 12-week full-time internship replacement.
Successful completion of this program may provide to you with award five (5) points under an eligible skilled occupation for migration, which may help you score points test, boost your chance of permanent residency application, as specified by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

Communication and Performance in the Australian Workplace
32 Weeks(250 Hrs) Delivered by Accredited Provider
Communication in Australian business can be different to what you may know from working overseas, and it can be very different from university! This component focuses on working in teams, participating in office meetings, negotiating, and preparing presentations. With the right language and tone, you will be able to effectively engage your colleagues, management, and clients.
